Trove Tuesday - Remembering Theodore Northcote Windross 1891-1915

This week we remember Private Theodore Northcote Windross, Service Number 1195 who enlisted at Toronto on the 25th September 1914.

Theodore, the son of John Windross and Rosalie Parker, was born in Newcastle NSW in 1891. He was educated at Toronto Public School and enlisted at Toronto on 25 September 1914.

When he was Killed in action at Gallipoli on 6 August 1915 Theodore was a member of the 2nd Infantry Battalion. Theodore rests in the Lone Pine Cemetery at Row C, Grave 78. His headstone inscription reads "He died a soldier and a man."

At a ceremony in Toronto in April 1916 Theodore's parents were presented with his service medals.

Theodore is remembered locally on the Honour Board at Toronto Public School
