It states that "The actual beginning of Methodism in this Circuit was made over thirty-one years ago, at the Brush or Upper Martinsville, one of the remote places of the Circuit in the year 1878" and goes on to follow the growth of Methodism in our region mentioning many of the people involved.
It is interesting to note that the article includes photos, including images of the Rev. C J MacAulay and Mr. T King of Toronto.

Thomas King was the first Circuit steward and Rev C J MacAulay was the first Methodist Minister at Toronto, This follows the opening of the Church in Pemel St in December 1909
